About
Ms. Michelle Shabat is an associate attorney with Maryam Jahedi Law Firm P.C. focusing on family and matrimonial law matters.
Ms. Shabat’s extensive experience makes her a strong addition to our firm. Before joining the firm, she cultivated her legal experience across diverse areas, including matrimonial and family law, copyright, trademark, immigration, commercial litigation, and entertainment litigation.
Her passion for family law began well before law school, with two years of experience working at a matrimonial law firm. This early exposure provided a solid foundation for divorce proceedings. During law school, she deepened her commitment to family law through impactful work with Sanctuary for Families, providing crucial legal services to survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, and she continued her work with the organization as a law graduate. Her experience also includes an externship at the Queens County Family Court, where she gained firsthand insight into family law proceedings by working in the chambers of Support Magistrate Jameelah Hayes.
Beyond her dedication to family law, Ms. Shabat possesses a strong passion for the arts. She has externed with SESAC, a performing rights organization, worked at MusiCapital, a music acquisition company, and volunteered her legal skills with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. This diverse background brings a unique perspective and well-rounded skillset to her legal practice.
A first-generation American and native New Yorker fluent in Russian, Ms. Shabat’s Brooklyn upbringing instilled in her a strong ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds. Experiencing a variety of cultures firsthand has broadened her perspective and honed her communication skills, allowing her to effectively relate with clients from all walks of life.
